Makeup, Masks & SFX Area
Horror Con Scotland is expanding its makeup, masks and SFX area — creating more space for transformation, experimentation, and practical horror craft.
At Horror Con Scotland 2025, we introduced live makeup and SFX demos – and they quickly became one of the most talked-about and consistently busy areas of the event.
Crowds gathered.
Phones came out.
People stayed to watch the transformation.
Because of that response, we’re expanding the Area on April 11 – making it larger, more immersive, and more central to the Horror Con Scotland experience.
What's Happening in 2026

Live makeup and SFX demos
Watch professional artists transform skin into monsters through live makeup and SFX demos running throughout the day. From wounds and prosthetics to blood, paint, and lenses, the process is visible from first touch to final reveal.

Featured Makeup Guest
Watch Emmy Award–winning special effects makeup artist Gino Crognale take to the stage for a live makeup demonstration, showcasing his craft in real time. Gino will also be available throughout the day for meet & greets in the guest area, giving attendees direct access to a true master of practical effects.

Makeup & SFX Contest
A dedicated Makeup & SFX contest open to both the public and live demo participants. Attendees can sign up throughout the day, with entries showcased and winners announced during an on stage finale near the end of the day.
We're inviting brands to take part at different levels - from headline area sponsorship to hands-on participation and prize support.
