First Time at Horror Con?
Never been to Horror Con before? You might be wondering what actually happens, whether you need to dress up or if it’s a bit strange to come on your own. You’re welcome whether you’re a massive horror fan or just fancy something different. Here’s a bit about what to expect before you come along.
What is Horror Con Scotland?
Horror Con Scotland brings horror fans together for independent shopping, cosplay, entertainment and experiences inspired by the things we love about horror. There’s room for the film obsessives, the gamers, the costume makers and the people who just spotted something interesting and thought, “I fancy that.”
Each event has its own programme. You might browse horror artwork and handmade items, watch a panel, take photos or enter a cosplay contest. Check your chosen event page for the confirmed activities and announcements.
Which event should I choose?
Glasgow at the SEC is our larger convention, with a full day of horror traders, immersive experiences, cosplay, panels and entertainment.
Inverness at Eden Court is a smaller evening event with a greater focus on horror cinema, alongside traders, cosplay and entertainment. Film screenings and other add-ons are booked separately.
Do I have to dress up?
No. Come in everyday clothes, your favourite horror T-shirt or a costume you’ve spent months making. Cosplay is part of the fun, but it’s entirely your choice.
Read the cosplay information and check the costume and prop rules before bringing a costume or prop weapon.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. You can browse at your own pace, stop for the things that interest you and spend as long as you like looking around the stalls. There’s no requirement to join a group or take part in a contest.
Will everything be scary?
There’s more to Horror Con than scares: shopping, costumes, talks and photo opportunities are also part of the experience. The programme varies, so read the activity descriptions and age restrictions before deciding what you’d like to try.
What does my ticket include?
Check the description of your chosen ticket before booking. Entry times, inclusions and separately charged activities can differ between events and ticket types. Allow extra spending money if you want to shop with the traders or book an add-on.
What if I have accessibility requirements?
Planning ahead can make a first visit feel easier. Read our accessibility and carer ticket information, alongside the venue guidance linked from your event page. Check application deadlines before booking if you need a carer ticket.
Before you set off
Check your ticket’s entry time, plan your journey and have your booking confirmation ready. Wear comfortable shoes and check the latest event updates before travelling. If there’s a published schedule, choose a few things you’d like to see and leave yourself time to explore.
