The Killer Costume Contest

Apply Online: Submit your entry form before March 12, 2025, to register for this prestigious category.

Spaces are limited, and entries will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility

1. Handmade Requirement:

   • Costumes must be at least 70% handmade by the entrant. This includes sewing, sculpting, painting, or any other form of costume creation.
   • Store-bought or commissioned items may account for up to 30% of the costume.

2. Age Requirement:

   • Open to participants aged 16 and over.

3. Pre-Registration:

   • All entrants must apply online by March 12, 2025.
   • Spaces are limited and you will find out if you are successful to go through to the event judging by April 2nd.

Costume Guidelines

4. Original or Recreated Designs:

   • Costumes may be based on existing characters from films, games, TV shows, or original designs.
   • If the costume is inspired by an existing character, visual references must be submitted with the entry form.

5. Safety:

   • Costumes must allow for safe movement on stage and within the event space.
   • Props must comply with event safety regulations (no real weapons, sharp edges, or pyrotechnics).

6. Mobility:

   • Large or bulky costumes must be disclosed during registration to accommodate stage requirements.

7. Appropriateness:

   • Costumes must adhere to venue rules and local laws regarding public decency.

Judging Criteria

8. Craftsmanship:

   • Attention to detail, materials used, techniques, and overall construction quality.

9. Creativity:

   • Innovation and originality in design and execution.

10. Character Embodiment:

• How well the costume represents the character or concept.

On the Day

11. Check-In:

• All contestants must check in at their allocated time on April 12 for a professional photoshoot and costume evaluation. (Timing tbc)

12. Grand Finale:

• Selected finalists will be invited to participate in the live Grand Finale on the Main Stage

13. Stage Time:

• Finalists must be able to appear on stage for the Masquerade Parade and Grand Finale presentation.

Disqualification

Failure to adhere to these rules, including inaccurate representation of costume creation, may result in disqualification.

All participants are invited to showcase their cosplay in the Masquerade Parade on the Main Stage.

After the parade, finalists will be introduced to the audience. 

The final will be later in the day to give the judges time to make their decisions.

Timings will be confirmed no later than 2 weeks before the event.

Simply sign up on the day at our Cosplay Area before 1 PM.
