Think you can send chills down spines in just two minutes? The Short Movie Making Contest at Horror Con Scotland: Halloween Edition challenges you to create a gripping horror short that dives into the dark side of Social Media. Whether it’s a viral nightmare, a sinister livestream, or the horrors lurking in the comments section, your creativity is your only limit.
Rules & Guidelines
- Duration: Movies must be between 1–2 minutes.
- Theme: All entries must explore the eerie world of Social Media.
- Format: Submit in MP4 or MOV formats. Landscape.
- Deadline: Entries must be received by September 15, 2025
- Judging Criteria: Creativity, storytelling, production quality, and theme relevance.
Showcase Your Short
Finalists will have their films screened at Horror Con Scotland: Halloween Edition, where fans and a panel of horror experts will crown the winner.

Eligibility:
- This contest is open to individuals aged 18 or older.
- Entries must adhere to the theme of Social Media and meet the specified duration (minimum of 1 minute, maximum of 2 minutes).

Originality:
- All submitted films must be original works created specifically for this contest.
- Films that have been entered into other contests or public showcases will not be considered.

Submission Deadline:
- All entries must be submitted by September 15, 2025, 11:59 PM (GMT).
- Submissions received after this date will not be accepted.

Usage Rights:
- By entering, you grant Horror Con Scotland the non-exclusive right to share your film on our social media platforms, marketing materials, and event screens.
- Credit will be given to the creators wherever possible.

Content Guidelines:
- Films must not include explicit violence, hateful or discriminatory content, or any material that infringes on copyright.
- Submissions must be suitable for public viewing at the event. Film screenings will be for over 18's.

Judging and Prizes:
- Entries will be judged based on creativity, storytelling, adherence to the theme, and production quality.
- The judges' decision is final.

Notification:
- Finalists will be notified via email no later than October 15
- Winners will be announced during Horror Con Scotland: Halloween Edition - November 1st.

Disqualification:
- Any submission failing to meet the above criteria will be disqualified.
- Plagiarized or previously entered films will also result in disqualification.
